Alan Brown
4th June 2026
| WHFC are sad to share the news that former player Alan Brown passed away last week. Alan joined the Club in 1978/79, having previously played for Old Edmontonians after attending Edmonton County School. On leaving school, he began an apprenticeship with BT, where he enjoyed a successful career spanning around 30 years before becoming a self-employed builder. A true fitness enthusiast, Alan was passionate about running, cycling, and keeping active. He was a talented footballer and a member of the Club’s 1983-84 SAL Champions side. He was equally accomplished on the golf course, playing off a handicap as low as five, and still maintaining a handicap of eight when he stopped playing just over a year ago. Alan is survived by his two daughters, Hannah and Katie, both of whom live in Leeds. He also leaves behind his partner, Julie, with whom he lived in Kingston. Alan will be remembered not only for his sporting achievements, but also for his friendship, dedication and long-standing contribution to the Club. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. | | |
