6th XI win SAL Senior Novets Cup
15th March 2025Played at Polytechnic FC in Chiswick on 15th March 2025, our 6th XI claimed the SAL Senior Novets Cup with a 3-1 victory over a very good Alexandra Park 6th XI.
An uneventful first half came to life in the 40th minute when James Lever smashed home, connecting first time from a crossed ball.
In the first minute of added time of the first half, the referee deemed that the AP 'keeper had gathered a back pass from a defender and thus awarded an indirect free kick to Winchmore, about eight yards out. The kick was tapped to James Lever who rammed the ball against an AP defender on the far post, with it rising into the roof of the net. 2-0 at half time.
AP scored two minutes into the second half which set the scene for 45 minutes of constant pressure. The ball rarely went out of the Winchmore half until, deep into added time when AP had committed everyone forward, Max Jordan scored on the break to make it 3-1.
